                NIGHT SCENE

Night scene

Another frozen planet, this one  attending a gas giant, another moon is seen nearby. A trail of  material is prominent in the sky, the remains of a destroyed body, perhaps suffering the effects of tidal flexing. The scene here is on a permanently glaciated world, that along with its parent planet is set far back from its sun.  These "ice" planets may well be fairly common in the cosmos.  This particular Earth sized body  has a breathable oxygen/ nitrogen atmosphere, so humans could settle here.  The temperature range could be close to those experienced in the terrestrial Antarctic regions, although probably somewhat colder.  This particular system lies on the edge of a Globular cluster, so as night fell, it would make an awesome spectacle  along with the gas giant ( depending on where it was in its orbit, indeed it could also eclipse the sun)  This particular painting  is more of  an exercise in surrealism.
